A sunny day in the Lowcountry

A sunny day in the Lowcountry

LOWCOUNTRY (WCSC) - You can expect the temperatures to hit the lower-70s on Wednesday, says Live 5 Meteorologist Chad Watson:

Plenty of sunshine is on the way to you for your Wednesday so grab a light jacket and head on out the door this morning to temps in the upper 40s and lower 50s. With all that sunshine and just a few clouds highs will have no problem at all reaching the mid to lower 70s for most of the coast later this afternoon. A light southwest breeze keeps the mild air coming in across the Lowcountry. Tonight a few more clouds will return but lows only fall into the mid 50s. Better chances of showers comes back on Thursday afternoon and some thunder is in the forecast for Friday.

Officials delay closure of Runway 15/33

JOINT BASE CHARLESTON (WCSC) - The planned closure date for one of the runways at Joint Base Charleston has been postponed at the least to the start of April.

Officials had planned to close Runway 15/33 on March 1 for reconstruction, but have decided to delay the closure to allow additional time for the contractor to process and gain approval of required construction submittals prior to beginning work, helping to minimize the length of time the runway will be shut down.

A cool, clear Presidents' Day

A cool, clear Presidents' Day

LOWCOUNTRY (WCSC) - Live 5 Meteorologist expects temperatures to hit the upper 60s on this Presidents Day:

Sunshine will mix though the clouds on our Presidents Day in fact....most of the early morning cloud cover is quickly burning off. Temps took a nosedive overnight thanks to a lot of cold air moving in behind a front that cleared off the coastline late Sunday. High pressure will control our weather for a while as highs this afternoon reach the cool upper 50s to near 60. A brisk northeast breeze will continue around 5-12 mph so you may need to keep the coats on for a while. This evening the drive time looks fine but cool...in the mid to lower 50s and a few thin clouds overhead. Lows tonight go back down into the 40s and 30s but not quite as cool as this morning.

No rain today, but it is on the way

LOWCOUNTRY (WCSC) - It's looking like a wet weekend in the Lowcountry, says Live 5 Meteorologist Brad Miller:

Patchy fog and mild temperatures to greet you this Friday morning. High pressure will remain in control of the southeast through this afternoon and evening before giving way to a developing area of low pressure over the Gulf of Mexico. This low will spread rain across the Lowcountry this weekend. Here's your forecast, a mix of sun and clouds today, highs will be near 70. Saturday starts off dry, but showers will develop by late afternoon and continue through tomorrow night. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s. Looks like a wet start to our Sunday then skies clearing late in the day, highs will be near 70.

Have a great and safe weekend !!
