Families, friends welcome back 15th Airlift Squadron

Tuesday was a big day for the families and members of the 15th Airlift Squadron at Joint Base Charleston.

More than 130 airmen were welcomed home from their 120-day deployment in southwest Asia by friends and family Tuesday.

"It feels great to be welcomed back by a whole group of people," Master Sgt. Jadirra Walls said."Usually I deploy by myself with my actual squadron. We were welcomed back as a group. It's great, it feels wonderful!"

"It's wonderful to be home," Lt. Col Rebecca Sonkiss said. "It's a relief to have everybody back safe and sound."

Flying the C-17 Globemaster, the airmen logged nearly 6,500 combat flying hours and airlifted more than 95 million pounds of combat material.
