Trident Medical Center hosts blood drive Friday

Trident Medical Center is hosting a blood drive this Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Donors will be entered into a drawing to win two pairs of roundtrip Delta airline tickets.

There is a constant need to replenish the blood supply in the Tricounty area” said Christy Joyner, medical technologist with Trident Health. “Presently, we are at critical levels for all blood types.”

To schedule an appointment, call 843-797-FIND (3463) or schedule your appointment online at www.redcrossblood.org and enter tridentmed as the sponsor. Walk-ins are welcome but donors with appointments will be taken first.

The drive will be held in Cafe B.

Trident Health offers 'Heart Health Events' next month

Throughout February, Trident Health will be providing their annual “Heart Health Events”, including free heart screenings and the latest information to help individuals lead a healthier lifestyle.  According to the American Heart Association, coronary heart disease and stroke are the first and third leading causes of death in the United States.

Trident Health to offer Alzheimer's support groups

Trident Senior Health will begin offering a free Alzheimer’s support group, starting Wednesday, January 25.

By learning appropriate care giving skills and being aware of available resources, individuals can make sure their loved ones are receiving the support they deserve. This program provides information on causes, risk factors, stages of development and treatment.

Naval Health Clinic honored by NCQA

JOINT BASE CHARLESTON (WCSC) - Naval Health Clinic Charleston (NHCC) announced today that it has been awarded Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home recognition by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).  This is the highest level of recognition a healthcare facility can receive from NCQA.  

NHCC is the only Department of Defense healthcare facility in the region to receive such distinction and one of only two Navy ambulatory clinics in the world to receive the honor.

Joint venture funds approved for VA/DoD Clinic

JOINT BASE CHARLESTON (WCSC) - The VA/DoD Joint Optometry Clinic will receive $372,000 for a joint venture that adds ophthalmology specialty services for Lowcountry Veterans, Servicemembers, and DoD beneficiaries through the Federal government’s Joint Incentive Fund (JIF).

The funds will also add new equipment to the clinic which was opened earlier this year on Joint Base Charleston - Weapons as a JIF project between Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, Naval Health Clinic Charleston, and 628th Medical Group.

Naval Health Clinic to outsource outpatient obstetrics services

JOINT BASE CHARLESTON (WCSC) - Starting February of next year, outpatient obstetrics services will no longer be provided at Naval Health Clinic Charleston.

Patients currently receiving care at NHCC may continue to receive care through Seasons OB/GYN at their North Charleston office located at 9279A Medical Plaza Drive, North Charleston, SC 29406.

Women who have not started care at NHCC will receive authorizations to receive care through the TRICARE network. TRICARE Prime patients will have these authorizations initiated through their Primary Care Manager.

Humana Military Healthcare Services will send a letter to referred patients within 10 days of the approval of the authorization. Patients are responsible for scheduling their first appointment. JOINT BASE CHARLESTON (WCSC) - Joint Base Charleston's Naval Operational Support Center will host a blood drive for the Armed Services Blood Program Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. NOSC is located on Joint Base Charleston-Weapons Station directly behind the Army Reserve Center. 

The blood drive is open to all Department of Defense ID card holders including Active Duty, Reserve, DoD civilians, retirees and their families.  All donors will receive a free t-shirt.
