BERKELEY COUNTY – The Berkeley County School District along with the S. C. School Board Association (SCSBA) recently recognized local business woman and philanthropist Anita Zucker with the Champions for Public Education Award.  The honor is awarded quarterly by SCSBA to individuals or organizations across the state whose support of and contributions to public education have benefited an entire school district significantly.

The Berkeley County School District nominated Zucker for this year’s award.  “Anita brings a determined focus to the discussion of public education,” said Berkeley County School District Rodney Thompson.  “She makes sure public education is prioritized at the table with business leaders, is considered as an economic development tool when recruiting new businesses, and is recognized for its successes at all levels.”
